In The News

Our Friends
Helping Hobos

Linking to other groups encourages them to link to you and drives web activity, and, hopefully, business. It is within the Board's purview to decide which groups the co-op will link to (and implicitly support). This can be done over time. Obviously Helping Hobos is just an example.

From Our General Manager
by Rosemary
Kevin and Richard  Its good to be back!
This truly has been a community effort getting our e-news up and running.  A big thank-you goes out to Kevin Bell whom the Co-op would be lost without his amazing computer knowledge and assistance and to Richard Krasner, a new member who engineered the new format and organized the Co-op’s buyers supplying the news.  Together we will make this a weekly newsletter filled with information on our sales, new products, coupons and events.

Prepared Foods
by Christine: Creative Cook
Our prepared foods department has a new creative cook with a growing vision to offer you nutritous food. Christine Bassett has been in the area for a number of years providing the public with creative and fresh meals.
Most noted for her restaurant Wileys @ Middlebridge, many of you are already familiar with her flair for food. In addition to old favorites, tofu salad and vegetarian chili, there are now two hot soups available daily- as well as a crock pot of warming food available during the week.
The take-out fridge is plentiful with wraps, sandwiches and other choices. We provide a variety of baked goods daily with efforts to satisfy vegan and gluten free needs.
Christine is happy to answer any questions about ingredients or preparation process about any food. We invite you to celebrate your wellness through our heart-healthy offerings. Journey with us into a conscious approach to your diet. We at the Co-Op wish you Health, Wealth and Vitality.

Bulk
by Rosemary

As the bulk buyer, I am shocked at how much prices fluctuate with each weekly delivery, usually in the upward direction.  As much as we cannot control these prices I do my best to seek out deals and sales that our distributors offer and pass these deals along to you -- and when the prices do go down we are very quick to lower the price.  With that said, November’s specials are:

  • Organic Short Brown Rice $1.89 lb usually $2.35 lb
  • Organic Long Brown Rice $1.69 lb. usually $2.35 lb.

The bulk section is one place where you can shop economically and environmentally.  You can buy just what you need and  reduce our natural resources by bringing your own containers.  We are accepting clean (dishwasher-safe) glass containers to be left for others. Feel free to leave any clean jars on the bottom shelf of the liquid soap and shampoo in the box labeled “clean jars.”
