We’ll talk about remedies used typically for babies (e.g., for teething, colic and other tummy upsets, diaper rash, earaches, etc) and for growing children as well ( e.g., for croup, tonsillitis, bed-wetting, conjunctivitis, styes, pinworms, nosebleeds, etc). Hello Folks,

And welcome summer!!!   We are so lucky to live here in South County close to the beaches.   The Free Trolley is running all through the summer leaving downtown Wakefield every two hours.  Go to www.Southernritrolley.com for a schedule.  It’s a good way to get to and from the beach with having to drive.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST:

The Board of Directors and Co-Op Staff and would like to thank all the worker/members who made last weekend’s Annual Pancake Breakfast a huge success.  This type of event could never happen if it wasn’t for all the wonderful folks we have in our community stepping up to lend their helping hands.  We cleared just over $700.00 from the breakfast and sale of raffle tickets.  This money will go towards the materials for the back deck which is planned to be built sometime during the summer.  We are waiting approval from the Zoning Board at our July 21st meeting.  Cross your fingers that it all goes off without a catch.

In the kitchen we had:  The breakfast went on without a hitch thanks to Jim Norman and Mac Hedgpath who came in early and stayed for clean-up to cook the pancakes, eggs and breakfast meats.  Ruby, a new worker/member, and her daughter helped with set-up and serving.  Linda and Jeff Broadhead were aces in running the food and a special thanks goes to Jeff who in the middle of the rush fixed the overflowing dishwasher.  The clean-up was done in record time thanks to Susan, Marilinn, Michael and Susan.  Thanks to our board members Julia Beasley, Linda Broadhead, Tracey Blahy, Elizabeth Quinn and John Varian for their helping hands.  Please forgive me if I overlooked someone.  We truly thank all those who helped and attended the event to make it such a fun and successful morning.

CO-OP SERVICE RAFFLE:

The Service Raffle organized by the Board of Directors will continue to take place until late in July.  The boxes are displayed in the Co-Op’s window.  Elizabeth Quinn hand wrote the descriptions of what you could win on each box (twice). Students at Wakefield Elementary School decorated the boxes. W.E. Stedman’s donated a Specialized Globe Bicycle which will is on display at the Co-Op.   There are two raffle prices:  Ticket prices for boxes with the blue tops are $6.00 each or 2 ticket for $10.00.  Red topped boxes are $10.00 each. A special thanks goes to our creative and generous members who donated their time and services.

INVENTORY:

Wednesday, June 30th at 7:00 am.  Yes, Christine will be cooking up something delicious for all those who help with inventory.  We are starting early with the goal to be opened by lunch time.  A sign up sheet will be at the front counter.  Coffee will be brewing all morning.  It really is fun.  And you get to know all the goodies the Co-Op carries.  See you on Wednesday. And Thanks for lending your helping hands.

HISTORIC DOWNTOWN WAKEFIELD’S STREET FESTIVAL:

Today – June 26th  at 3:00 pm the festivities begin at the Baptist Church on Main Street with  musical chairs – music provided by Mike Bussey and helmet fitting at Stedman’s, face painting, Ichaban demonstration and at 4:30 Keith Munslow takes the stage.  Throughout the day merchants will bring their wares to the street.  A book sale will be on the corner of Robinson and Main.  The Chamber of Commerce will be doing their fundraiser Golf Ball Drop, The Contemporary Theatre will perform at 6:00 along the street.  The Co-op will be serving light food while other local fenders will bring their food to the parking lot of Paul Masse starting at 5:00 pm.  At 7:00 pm Roger Ceresi, a 12 piece band, will play in Paul Masse’s parking lot and at dusk look to the river for river fire.  Bring the family for a night on the town.

Be Well,

Rosemary
